Jack Werk is the President of Werk Thoroughbred Consultants, Inc., America’s leading pedigree research firm over the past 20 years specializing in Thoroughbred mating and auction recommendations. Jack is also the originator of the Werk Nick Rating and eNicks, the popular website for breeders to do matings.
From 1987 to 2000, he published OWNER-BREEDER, the highly acclaimed, first-ever journal dedicated to thoroughbred pedigree analysis, theories and trends. After a six-year hiatus from writing, he returns with his blog Who’s Hot, Who’s Not.
In addition to WTC and OWNER-BREEDER, Jack is co-founder and partner with Roger Lyons in CompuSire, the popular pedigree software.
During the 1970’s, Jack owned and operated one of the largest real estate brokerages in the San Francisco Bay Area. A long-time racing enthusiast, he left the real estate business to pursue his interest in the study of Thoroughbred pedigree. That interest grew into what is now Werk Thoroughbred Consultants, what many people in racing regard as the most influential pedigree consulting company in North America. Jack is a frequent speaker at Thoroughbred conferences worldwide and is highly committed to the principle of service to the industry. Besides being a keen observer of pedigree trends and market conditions, Jack’s success and that of WTC is largely attributable to his insistence upon fair business policies and practices that keep clients coming back. He also has an astute sense of the kinds of information products that are needed by Thoroughbred breeders and buyers, and, of course, his ability to bring those products to market post-haste is admired throughout the industry. Now with Who’s Hot, Who’s Not, Jack has found another way to keep clients and readers a step ahead of the game.
