Three new $5,000 stallions for 2021 in Florida have caught our eyes: Mr. Money at Journeyman, and Seeking the Soul and Win Win Win at Ocala Stud. Each brings a big race record to the table and though none of them are by big-time sires, they are grandsons of them — good enough for us. We’ve seen successful sires with this profile before, both regionally and nationally, such as Tiznow (by Cee’s Tizzy, a son of Relaunch); Harlan’s Holiday (by Harlan, a son of Storm Cat); Candy Ride (Arg) (by Ride the Rails, a son of Cryptoclearance); Kantharos (by Lion Heart, a son of Tale of the Cat); etc.
Mr. Money: By Goldencents (Into Mischief) — Plenty O’Toole, by Tiznow; 18-6-3-0, $1,360,430; SW on dirt 8F-9F at 3-4, winner at 2; 1st G3 Indiana Derby, G3 West Virginia Derby, G3 Pat Day Mile, G3 Matt Win S., and G3 Ack Ack S.; 2nd G1 Pennsylvania Derby.
What we like: Through sire Goldencents, a dual G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner, he’s a conduit to the red-hot Into Mischief sire line, and he’s from the family of G1 Dubai World Cup winner Well Armed. At the moment, the Into Mischief line is poised to dominate in a manner last seen by Storm Cat and his sons.
Seeking the Soul: By Perfect Soul (Sadler’s Wells) — Seeking the Title, by Seeking the Gold; 32-7-6-7, $3,470,153; SW on dirt 8F-9F at 4-6; 1st G1 Clark H., G2 Stephen Foster H., and G3 Ack Ack H.; 2nd G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, G1 Pegasus World Cup International S., etc.; 3rd G1 Clark H., G2 Alysheba S., G3 Lukas Classic S., G3 Smarty Jones S., etc.; set NTR at Keeneland.
What we like: His excellent female family tracing to undefeated champion Personal Ensign, and he will be supported by his owner Charles Fipke with mares such as champion Forever Unbridled. The Sadler’s Wells line in this country has succeeded on dirt primarily though El Prado (Sadler’s Wells) and his son Medaglia d’Oro, but Seeking the Soul was a Grade 1 winner on dirt, his broodmare sire is Seeking the Gold, and his third dam is Personal Ensign — further reinforcing the dirt and class angle.
Win Win Win: By Hat Trick (Sunday Silence) — Miss Smarty Pants, by Smarty Jones; 12-5-3-1, $601,600; SW on dirt 7F at 3-4, SW on turf 8F at 3, winner at 2; 1st G1 Forego S., Pasco S.-NTR at Tampa, and Manila S.; 2nd G2 Blue Grass S. and Heft S.; 3rd G2 Tampa Bay Derby.
What we like: While it’s still awaiting a big breakthrough in N.A., his Sunday Silence sire line has consistently had G1 success in other major racing countries. Co-owned by Live Oak Stud, Airdrie Stud, and Ocala Stud, this multi-surface SW is likely to receive a lot of breeding and sale support from his connections. The Sunday Silence line in recent years through Deep Impact and Heart’s Cry has succeeded with Unbridled’s Song mares, and this is something we think this stallion will also like.
